Tapper Interiors were contracted to complete an SFS project for RACE in Culham Science Centre in South Oxfordshire.
RACE had an existing building which they wanted extended. We completed the project on-time and within budget.
This particular job has 2 phases; external, which included a 3 story SFS construction, and internal which included stud partitions, grid ceilings and plasterboard ceilings. Overall, this construction took 4 months from start to finish.
SFS stands for Steel Framing System which is a construction solution comprising of steel frames and façades to create new outside walls which can be multiples storeys high. Steel framing systems can be used for a wide variety of different structures with different infill materials and are suitable for loadbearing and non-loadbearing walls.
The SFS system we put in place covered the ground floor as well as the 1st and 2nd storey and was over clad with a 12mm weather defence board.
Once the external SFS was complete we also completed a full interior fit out which included dry lining the SFS, constructing various stud partitions with different fire ratings and acoustic ratings. We also added grid ceilings and plasterboard ceilings.
