There are different types of suspended ceilings available. To ensure they meet any changes in building design requirements and building regulations, suspended ceilings are constantly being changed and developed.

At Tapper Interiors, we have been supplying and fitting suspended ceilings for many years and in a whole host of different types of buildings. Some of the type of fit-outs we are contracted for regularly include; show rooms, educational spaces, offices, warehouses commercial spaces and industrial buildings.

Types of Suspended Ceilings

The most popular types of suspended ceilings are;

Grid Suspended Ceilings

In this type of suspended ceiling system, panels are installed within a visible grid which is coloured to either harmonise or contrast with the ceiling panels.

The panels are constructed from a variety of materials including mineral/rock, glass fibre, calcium silicate, perlite, plasterboard, glass reinforced gypsum, wood, steel and aluminium.

Panels come in a variety of sizes to suit the modular features of the exposed or lay-in grid suspended ceiling. The most used size is 1,200x600mm and 600x600mm and grids are either 24mm or 15mm.

Metal Pan Ceilings

Metal pan ceilings use exposed grids of various sizes or a concealed grid. The metal tiles come in various sizes.

MF Plasterboard Ceilings

MF plasterboard ceilings are basic ceilings. Without any add ons they provide no fire rating and no acoustics. However these aspects can be added with upgraded plaster boards.

Acoustic Baffles for Suspended Ceilings

Acoustic baffles are becoming a popular addition to exposed soffits. These can be either horizontal or vertical. They are available in various sizes, shapes and colours so they can be matched to your architectural requirements.

Acoustic baffles are available in timber as well as metal. We now also offer painted rockwool which can make a real atheistic difference to a room.
