Testimonials
The works consisted of the extension and refurbishment of an existing dealership to convert into a three car dealership, Bentley, Rolls Royce and Aston Martin.
The works were undertaken over a 6 month period and included many brand specific details, with the added complexity that the Aston Martin details were not finalised until two months before the end of the project.
Works began with dry lining and partitions to separate the three dealerships and create a new larger workshop.
Ceilings were mainly MF throughout with various recesses and bulkheads to define each brand. Within the MF ceilings were bespoke metal pan and barrisol style ceilings.
The glass partitions varied from dealership to dealership with differing manifestations, framework and styles of doors.
Joinery consisted of doors of varying sizes and fire ratings with some bespoke frames to hide hinges. The skirting ranged from painted plant on MDF to recessed stainless steel finish. Various tea points/breakout areas and IPS completed the joinery. Hygienic cladding was fitted to various areas.
When designing a car showroom, the goal is to create an environment that not only exhibits the vehicles and shows them in their best light but also enhances the customer experience.
At Tapper Interiors, we are a specialist interior fit-out company with years of experience in car showroom fit-outs. We are well-known within the industry for our professionalism, sleek results, and great work ethic.
Our main areas of expertise focus on partition walls, suspended ceilings, acoustic solutions, flooring, mezzanine floors, and essential services such as electrics and plumbing. So, if you’re looking for a partner to work with on your car showroom fit-out or any showroom fit-out, give us a call.
Car Showroom Fit-Out Elements
When it comes to car showroom fit-outs, we understand that every element must contribute to a visually impactful and highly functional space. Here are some of our top fit-out ideas tailored for car showrooms.
1. Partition Walls to Define Spaces
Partition walls play a critical role in car showroom design. Glass partitions are an excellent choice for creating a seamless, open feel while providing clearly defined spaces. They allow natural light to flow, creating a bright, welcoming atmosphere that enhances the showroom’s aesthetics. They also create a feeling of openness, they make great corner offices or customer lounges without compromising on natural light flow.
Solid partition walls, on the other hand, can be used to create more private spaces. They are great for staff areas or storage rooms that you don’t necessarily want your customers to see.
The combination of glass and solid partition walls adds versatility to your car showroom, ensuring that you can accommodate your business’s display and administrative needs.
2. Suspended Ceilings for Lighting and Acoustic Control
A carefully designed suspended ceiling can transform a showroom’s ambience. Car showrooms often feature high ceilings with bright lights to create an airy, spacious environment with a feeling of grandeur as clients walk through the door. The lights are very important as they bounce off of the cars’ reflective surfaces, making them look even more spectacular.
At Tapper Interiors, we specialise in suspended ceilings and offer a variety of options. In addition to car showroom fit-outs, we also provide suspended ceilings for educational facilities, commercial buildings, and other structures.
Suspended ceilings also serve a key acoustic purpose. In large spaces like car showrooms, sound can easily become overwhelming. We can provide acoustic panels or tiles within the ceiling that can help absorb and reduce noise levels, creating a pleasant experience for customers.
3. Acoustic Solutions: Wall and Ceiling Baffles
In addition to ceiling-based acoustic solutions, we can also provide wall-mounted acoustic panels or baffles to add an extra layer of sound control. Although this is not always essential for car showrooms, if you expect lots of customer interaction, they can help make the space more pleasant. Acoustic baffles can minimise echoes and manage sound levels.
Acoustic baffles can also be design elements. We offer options in custom colours or shapes to make your space yours.
If you would like help or advice on what type of acoustic solutions you require for your space, contact us today. We can assess your space and advise you on the best solution.
4. Flooring: Style Meets Durability
Flooring is another critical component. For car showrooms, the flooring must withstand heavy foot traffic and vehicle movement. For areas like customer lounges or offices, high-quality carpeting or luxury vinyl tiles can create a comfortable, stylish space that adds warmth and contrasts with the showroom floor.
We ensure our flooring installations complement the overall showroom design while maintaining functionality.
5. Mezzanine Floor for Additional Space
A mezzanine floor can be an excellent solution in car showrooms with limited floor space. This secondary level can be used for offices, staff areas, or storage.
Our team ensures that mezzanine floors are structurally sound and follow building regulations. This often includes fire-rated elements for the underside ceiling and partition walls. Our mezzanine floors are also visually integrated into your car showroom and designed to maximise space without compromising the showroom’s layout.
6. Electrics and Plumbing
The final touch in any car showroom fit-out involves attention to electrics and plumbing. At Tapper Interiors, we have the skill set to integrate electrical systems for optimal lighting and power distribution. Additionally, we manage plumbing installations for customer restrooms and kitchenette areas where required.

We recently worked on an interior fit-out for Guthrie Douglas, a specialist in blinds for architectural projects.
This entire project took around five months to complete, with a total value of £365k.
The Project
Initially, we removed the existing ceilings and floor coverings within the office area to enable us to undertake the new work.
Mezzanine Floor Installation
The works consisted of a mezzanine floor with a production area above and a kitchen/breakout area below.
As well as constructing the mezzanine floor itself, we also provided a fire rated MF ceiling to the underside of the mezzanine floor, intumescent paint to the steel work and fire rated glass partitions to the compartment wall between the breakout area and the shop floor. These were all additional safety features to ensure the staff remain safe in the event of a fire.
Mezzanine floors are a very popular way to make the most of the vertical space available. Find out more about them here.
Office Fit-Out
Within the offices, we adapted the grid ceilings and supplied and fitted new acoustic plasterboard ceilings.
We installed glass partitions; these were double-glazed with Komfort Sonik doors. Bespoke manifestations were added to the glass partitions and screens.
Within kitchen breakout area we created a communal space for break times which is important for staff morale and employee well-being.
WCs and Flooring
We provided 3 different floor types within the project. These were; floor paint to the new breakout area, vinyl to the WC’s and carpet tiles to the offices.
Within the WCs, we fitted IPS panels and WC cubicles with hygienic cladding to the walls.
For many of our clients, using partition walls to transform a space is the top priority. Partition walls are extremely versatile and are one of the best ways to make the most use of your space.
If you are considering investing in partition walls and would like more information, contact our team today.
How Can Partition Walls Transform Your Space?
There are several ways in which a partition wall can transform your space.
- Create privacy without losing light and space – One of the issues we find businesses face is the need to create privacy for employees while keeping the space’s open-plan feel. Glass partitions can provide the best solution for this.
- Segregate different areas of your space – Having worked in many different office spaces, we know how important it can be to add partition walls to segregate different areas. For example, in an office, the kitchen may benefit from becoming a separate room rather than keeping the open plan feel where things may get noisy or distracted. Or, in a studio flat, you may consider using partitions to create some rooms for variety. Smaller breakout rooms can be created in schools and educational buildings for working on projects or quiet study areas. The possibilities are endless.
- Add a Decorative Element – Although the main reason for investing in a partition wall is for space and privacy, it can also become a statement wall and provide a decorative element to your home, office, or educational space.
Why You May Choose To Invest In Partition Walls
There are many advantages to using partition walls to transform your space. This could be for your office, home, school, warehouse space or any type of building.
No Planning Permission Required—If you’re considering partition walls to create rooms or breakout areas, the fact that they don’t require planning permission is an advantage. If it’s a toss-up between building an extension or segregating the space you currently have, partition walls are a quick solution as there is no delay in waiting for the planning permission.
Flexible Solution – Partition walls are very flexible. With different material options, acoustic solutions and the versatility of adding them to most spaces, they can be used in almost any building to create exactly what you want, subject to building regulation approval.
Create the Wow Factor – Using embellished or glass partitions with company logos can give your office the “wow” factor. If you host a lot of client or customer meetings or have a lot of visitors, then adding a partition wall could make a difference to your first impression.

Suspended Ceilings for Offices
We design and fit suspended ceilings for offices. This is the most common type of ceiling for commercial buildings, which also include schools, libraries, and community spaces.
There are several different types of suspended ceilings that we offer; these can include
- Grid-suspended ceilings – The most common type of office ceiling that we supply. They get their name from their visible grid.
- Metal pan suspended ceilings – Similar to grid ceilings use metal tiles.
- MF plasterboard ceilings – Constructed of plasterboard with less acoustic properties than other grid ceiling options.
For more information on the different types of suspended ceilings for offices, take a look at our previous blog posts where we go into detail about these different types of suspended ceilings.
Other Office Ceiling Elements
In addition to the ceiling itself, we can also provide various acoustic solutions for your office ceilings.
Vertical Acoustic Baffles – These come in a range of colours, shapes and sizes to reduce the noise levels within the space.
Horizontal Acoustic Rafts – there are a wide range of acoustic shapes that can be suspended from the ceilings to absorb some of the noise. These work well in very large spaces with high ceilings. They are installed in creative ways to be aesthetically pleasing as well as functional.
Office Ceilings from Tapper Interiors
At Tapper Interiors, we work on suspended ceilings for offices in many different industries. We pride ourselves on supplying and fitting all of our work on time for our clients and to the highest standard. If you are interested in office ceilings, please contact our team.
Choosing the right materials for your office fit-out is crucial to creating the desired atmosphere along with a functional, aesthetically pleasing, and durable workspace.
At Tapper Interiors, we are often contracted for office fit-outs. We can help you choose the right materials for the ambience you want.
Tips for Choosing the Right Materials for Your Office Fit-out
Over our years in business and assisting with office fit-outs, we have seen various office layouts, styles and functionalities. Because of this, we can help our clients choose the right materials for their office fit-outs.
Here are some of our top tips that you should consider.
Office Functionality – Consider your office’s specific needs. Do you need soundproof materials for quiet areas? Are easy-to-clean surfaces essential in high-traffic areas? Are break-out rooms required? How best can you use the space?
Aesthetics and Branding – Can you choose materials that reflect your brand identity and create a visually appealing environment? Can your logo be incorporated? Or can you choose materials that are your band colour?
Durability – We always advise opting for materials that can withstand daily wear and tear. This ensures longevity and reduces maintenance costs.
Budget Considerations – Explore financing or leasing options for expensive materials or furniture.
Safety and Compliance – Ensure all materials meet local building codes and regulations. This includes fire-resistant materials, non-slip flooring, and non-toxic finishes.
Going Greener – There is a real push towards making sure businesses are doing as much as they can to become more carbon neutral and help the environment. How much of this do you want to incorporate into your office fit-out? And how can you achieve this?
Materials for Office Fit-Outs
When it comes to materials for office fit-outs, the two main elements we can work on are partition walls and suspended ceilings. We can also help with flooring, electrics and plumbing where required.
Partition Wall Materials
Stud Walls – Partition walls or stud walls are constructed of metal studs, plasterboard, and insulation. They are great for creating privacy, reducing noise levels, and separating spaces. Because they are internal and don’t affect the building structure, they usually don’t require planning permission, so they could be a useful option for many offices.
Glass Partitions – Glass partition walls are excellent for creating a sense of openness while providing soundproofing. Their main benefit is that they allow natural light to flow throughout the office space. They are perfect for open-plan offices that require break-out rooms or private offices.
Ceiling Materials
Grid-Suspended Ceilings – In grid-suspended ceiling systems, panels are installed within a visible grid. The panels can be made from a variety of materials, including:
- Mineral/rock
- Glass fibre
- Calcium silicate
- Perlite
- Plasterboard
- Glass reinforced gypsum
- Wood
- Steel
- Aluminium
Metal Pan Ceilings – Metal pan ceilings are constructed of metal tiles in various sizes, allowing for customisation based on design and functional requirements.
MF Plasterboard Ceilings – These are a metal framework boarded with plasterboard. Dependant on the type of plasterboard and insulation different fire ratings and acoustic values can be achieved.
Other Office Fit-Out Materials and Elements
Flooring Options – There are several flooring materials to choose from. You can choose from such items as carpet tiles, vinyl flooring, hardwood, and concrete.
Furniture and Fixtures – Consider the types of furniture that will be placed in the office. This may influence the materials you choose for your walls and ceilings or vice versa.
Lighting Solutions – Again, your lighting fixtures may be chosen based on the materials you choose for your ceilings and partition walls. It’s important to consider the look you want your office fit-out to achieve and choose lighting fixtures based on this.
Choosing the Right Materials for your Office Fit-Out with Tapper Interiors
When you work with Tapper Interiors, we can help you carefully select the right materials for your office fit-out. This results in a workplace that is beautiful, comfortable but also functional, and sustainable, enhancing employee well-being and productivity. FLAGSHIP showroom fit-out at the New Lotus Brand Store Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London
We were recently contracted to complete an interior fit-out for The UK’s Flagship Lotus Brand Store in Berkeley Square, Mayfair, London. This prestigious project, came in at £2.8 million.
As with many of our showroom projects, the Lotus fit-out incorporated glass partitions. These are great for showrooms, creating breakout areas for client meetings and offices without reducing the natural light within the main showroom. They also make the space look bigger to add to the ‘wow’ factor.
FIS Awards – Lotus Fit-Out
We were particularly proud of this project because we were short listed in the Interior Fit Out category at the FIS awards this year. This project was the focus of the award – it was amazing to be nominated and recognised for our hard work and dedication.

Mezzanine floors in warehouses are an excellent solution for maximising space. They can make a space more adaptable and improve storage efficiency.
They provide additional usable space without requiring a significant structural overhaul.
At Tapper Interiors, we can supply and fit mezzanine floors in a range of buildings. We have found they are particularly popular in warehouses but also used in showrooms and other large buildings.
Key Aspects of Mezzanine Floors in Warehouses
Here are some key aspects and benefits, that you may wish to think about if you’re considering adding a mezzanine floor to your warehouse.
Construction – Mezzanine floors are commonly constructed of materials including steel, aluminium, and sometimes reinforced concrete. The choice depends on the load-bearing needs and the warehouse environment.
Load Capacity – Different materials have different weight limits and capacities. Ensure your mezzanine is designed to support the weight of stored goods, machinery, and personnel.
Staircases and Ladders – Mezzanine floors in warehouses will need to have a strong and sturdy access point. Consider the type of staircase or ladder you require and what it will be used for.
Benefits of Mezzanine Floors in Warehouses
There are several benefits of building a mezzanine floor in a warehouse. Some of the most common ones are:
Increased Storage Capacity – A mezzanine floor allows you to maximise the use of vertical space, effectively doubling or even tripling the available storage area.
Cost-Effective Expansion – Mezzanine floors are more affordable than constructing a new facility or extending the existing building footprint.
Flexibility – Mezzanine floors can be used for storage, office space, filing systems, etc. They are highly flexible and help you make better use of your space.
Considerations for Implementing Mezzanine Floors in Warehouses
Before you embark on constructing a mezzanine floor, it’s important to consider the following aspects:
Building Codes and Regulations – Ensure compliance with local building codes, safety regulations, and fire codes. Obtain necessary permits before construction.
Structural Integrity – Conduct a thorough assessment of the existing building’s structure to ensure it can support the additional load.
Design and Layout – Plan the layout carefully to optimise workflow and ensure easy access to stored items. Consider the placement of staircases, lifts, and conveyors.
Safety Measures – Implement robust safety protocols, including regular inspections and maintenance of the mezzanine structure, to prevent accidents and ensure worker safety.
Uses of Mezzanine Floors in Warehouses
Mezzanine floors are adaptable and can be used for a variety of different things. Within warehouses, it’s common for mezzanine floors to be used as any of the following:
Storage Expansion – They’re ideal for storing additional inventory, and especially good for growing businesses that need more space without relocating.
Office Space – You can create additional office or administrative areas within the warehouse, providing a dedicated workspace for staff.
Production Areas – Using a mezzanine floor you can set up additional production or assembly areas, keeping them separate from the main storage zones.

At Tapper Interiors, we specialise in interior fit-outs for all industries. One area we are often contracted for is showroom interiors.
We have worked in showroom interiors for many years and are well-known in the industry.
Elements of Showroom Interior Fit-outs
When it comes to showroom interiors, there are several elements that are often utilised. This is because they help break the space into smaller areas or help with the overall acoustics.
Glass Partitions – Glass partitions are often used in showrooms as they help with natural lighting and can make the space look big and bright. They also look very chic and professional, perfect for car showrooms. Glass partitions are perfect for break-out rooms with clients. It’s encouraging for new clients to be able to see staff busy with existing clients, but the acoustics of the glass partitions still allow for privacy of the conversation.
Partition Walls – In addition to glass partitions, you may also want to invest in solid partition walls for your showrooms. These are perfect for staff areas or break-out offices where more privacy is required.
Suspended Ceilings – We also specialise in suspended ceilings. These are an important part of a showroom or office as they can greatly affect the acoustics of the room. They can also help with insulation and aesthetics.
Acoustic Elements – In wide open spaces such as showrooms, there can often be issues with sound levels and noise control. This is because large spaces tend to reflect sound, making the room sound echoey. We can provide acoustic solutions to help combat this. Acoustic baffles and hanging rafts can help with sound absorption and reduce echos in all types of fit-outs.
Mezzanine Floors – mezzanine floors are a great way to utilise the space in showroom, fooce and warehouse interiors as they give extra floor area. Mezzanine floors may also include partition walls and suspended ceilings. They are great for extra office space or as a storage area.
Lighting – When you think of showroom interiors, you think of beautifully lit spaces. We can install lighting to suit your requirements for each particular area.
Flooring – We can also install flooring for showroom interiors. Depending on the use of the space, we often recommend hard-wearing floorings such as ceramic tiles. Carpet can be incorporated into office spaces or meeting rooms.
Types of Showrooms and Interior Designs
Car showrooms – We are regularly contracted to work on car showroom interiors. These tend to use elements such as glass partition walls and specialised lighting, which helps to make the cars stand out and provides a professional experience for the customers.
Exhibition showrooms – Exhibition showrooms are another type of showroom that we work on regularly. The focus is usually on acoustics. Exhibition showrooms are very large open spaces, and during a show, they contain many people, which can lead to high noise levels. Incorporating ceiling baffles or rafts can help combat this.
Showroom Interiors from Tapper Interiors
We are often contracted to work on showroom interiors regardless of the type or industry. Take a look at our previous works in the case study section of our website.
If you are looking for showroom interior ideas or have a project and are looking for a contractor, then contact us today.
Open-plan offices have been a popular layout for many companies, but they come with both advantages and disadvantages.
At Tapper Interiors, we supply and fit office partitions to divide open-plan spaces and improve the working environment. Although an open-plan office can have several advantages, we believe it’s always a good idea to have at least some separate spaces for private meetings or a quieter workplace.
Advantages of Open Plan Offices
There are several advantages of open-plan offices, and depending on the size of your organisation or the structure of communication, you may find them helpful. Some of the main benefits of open-plan offices are:
Easy Collaboration and Communication: Open-plan offices allow for easy communication and collaboration among employees, as there are no physical barriers between them. This can lead to increased idea-sharing and teamwork.
Layout Flexibility: The open space means the office can be easily rearranged. Desks and workstations can be rearranged where required for better collaboration or as the size of the team changes.
Share Natural Light: in an open-plan office, natural light is able to flow freely throughout the office. This creates a brighter and more spacious environment.
Access to Managers and Management Involvement: Without physical barriers in an open-plan office, managers can easily oversee their teams and provide support when needed.
Disadvantages of Open Plan Offices
Now we have considered the advantages of open-plan offices, here are some of the disadvantages:
No or Little Privacy: Open-plan offices offer little privacy. This has been known to be detrimental to tasks that require concentration or confidentiality. Employees may feel uncomfortable discussing sensitive matters or making personal calls in such environments. This is why it’s a good idea to have a smaller breakout office built using office partitions. This can allow employees to have their private discussions but still use the open-plan office for the main working area.
High Noise Levels: An open-plan office has no walls or partitions, so noise levels will be higher. This can lead to distractions and decrease productivity for some employees.
Partition Solutions for Open Plan Offices
To get the best of both worlds, you can segregate the space in your open-plan office using office partitions. Contact Tapper Interiors today to discuss the options for your open-plan space. We have several different options available to suit your space.
If you are hoping to create smaller offices with lots of privacy, we suggest a solid wall partition. We offer these as metal-framed stud walls with plaster boards. They offer great acoustics and ticking boxes for sound and visual privacy.
If you need to reduce noise levels but want to maintain as much natural light as possible, then some of our glass partitioning systems would fit your requirements. We offer double-glazed options for added sound absorption.

Full Office and Warehouse Fit-out
We were recently contracted to complete a full office interior fit-out. This was one of our more significant projects and included many elements.
Plasterboard partitions and ceilings are our speciality, and we work on countless projects each year. For this project, it was all about dividing the space to create smaller functional areas for privacy whilst allowing for light to flow through the building.
Glass partitions were also used for segregating different office areas. Because of the building regulations and requirements, there was a combination of both fire and non-fire-rated glass partitions. The glass partitions came from Komfort and included their Sonik acoustic glass doors.
A mezzanine floor was built; these are great for expanding your available floor space in buildings with high ceilings.
This was a complete office fit-out, so we also fitted a kitchen and various W.Cs, complete with flooring, ceramic wall tiling and kitchens from Howdens.
An automatic door from Axis Entrance Systems was fitted at the entrance to the office, along with various laminate timber doors throughout.
Overall, this was an excellent project for us, and the finished space is now a pleasant working environment.
Earlier this year, we were contracted to work on the Schüco UK showrooms. We worked in collaboration with OWA, who designed the layout and provided the products for us to fit. The Schüco UK showroom is a versatile space for events and product displays. However, concerns arose regarding the acoustics, particularly echoing sounds that hindered clear communication. To address this challenge, we helped to devise and provide a solution in collaboration with OWA UK. The result was some stylish and functional acoustic solutions.
Acoustic Solutions Provided by Tapper Interiors
Free Hanging Acoustic Absorbers
Working closely with OWA and the team at Schüco UK, a tailored solution was implemented to reduce the noise level and echo during events in the showroom. The introduction of acoustic ceiling canopies not only improved sound clarity but also seamlessly blended with the showroom’s sophisticated interior.
RAW Concrete Bespoke Rafts
We installed some Monolithic rafts above the primary conference area. These rafts provide exceptional sound absorption properties to help with noise levels. The perimeter of each raft was elegantly framed with a black metal profile, enhancing the overall visual appeal.
S80 Demountable Raft
Above the mezzanine level, we installed a trio of innovative OWAtecta S80 demountable perforated rafts. These rafts are equipped with black acoustic fleece and class A acoustic pads for added sound absorption. We fitted these rafts around the existing lighting fixtures. Their modular construction allowed easy assembly, seamlessly integrating into the showroom’s design scheme.
S14 Canopy
We also installed OWAtecta S14 ‘one-piece’ perforated metal canopies, which are designed for practicality and aesthetic appeal.
Corpus Acoustic Shapes
Above the bar area, we installed OWAconsult Corpus cuboid shapes, which not only provided acoustic absorption but also looked stylish and in keeping with the overall style of the showroom. These versatile acoustic boxes offer flexibility in layout, contributing to the showroom’s unique ambience.

Earlier this month, we were thrilled to be awarded Sub-Contractor Of the Year for Special Projects from Beard, whom we regularly sub-contract to.
Tapper Interiors and Beard
We have worked with Beard for many years; it is great to have our hard work recognised this year.
Works that we carry out with Beard generally include the construction of ceilings, internal partitions, both plasterboard and glass, kitchen installations, joinery, toilet cubical construction, flooring coverings and decoration.
The project value could be anything from £1,000 to £25,000, and it tends to be in the Oxfordshire area, especially in the Oxford colleges.
To accompany the award, we also received some lovely words from special projects manager Nick at Beard;
“I was glad to put forward Tapper for this award as you are a valuable, trustworthy, and reliable co contractor who always does the very best to help us through our many challenges and always produce top quality work.
Always a pleasure to work with you and your team in a true spirit of cooperation.

Steel framing systems, or SFS, are highly efficient ways to expand your space. They are a versatile construction solution which can be used for extensions or stand-alone buildings in various industries.
At Tapper Interiors, we have completed many SFS projects, some of which are on our Case Studies page.
If you are considering a steel framing system or have questions about the process, contact the team at Tapper today.
What is a Steel Framing System?
A Steel Framing System is a robust, lightweight, highly sturdy steel structure that can be used as a load-bearing wall. This makes them perfect for extensions of commercial buildings and external structures.
You may have seen an SFS in process. The distinct steel frames for the structure complete the system, which also includes external grade boards and insulation.
The steel used in these systems is manufactured using a cold rolling process, which produces lightweight, C-formed studs to give them maximum strength and versatility. The lightweight steel studs can be used in a wide variety of load-bearing and non-load-bearing constructions.
Types of Steel Framing Systems
There are three main types of steel framing systems available.
Infill walls represent the most prevalent form of Steel Framing Systems (SFS). These walls consist of individual panels cut to size for onsite installation. Positioned between the steel frame floor and the ceiling or underside of the floor above, they effectively “fill in” the external wall areas.
Continuous walls, another SFS variant, feature panels extending to the structure’s ends, often termed over-sail panels. This construction method optimises internal floor space utilisation.
Panelised systems employ prefabricated components, including insulation boards, which are attached off-site. These prefabricated systems are then lifted into place by crane and secured to the steel structure.
Where are Steel Framing Systems Used?
Steel framing systems are becoming a popular alternative to traditional extensions due to their cost and time-saving properties. Some of the areas that they can be used include:
Extension construction for various buildings – SFS is frequently used in traditional extensions for homes and other structures. It can also be used for outbuilding construction, such as barns, garden rooms, or external office outbuildings. This is mainly due to its cost-effective nature for creating and expanding spaces.
Commercial building construction – SFS is perfect for commercial spaces such as offices, retail establishments, and even leisure centres. These buildings require study and durable structures, making SFS a fitting option.
Educational buildings – SFS is an ideal solution for educational facilities, from schools to universities. It is a highly versatile system that is highly efficient for extensions.
Healthcare Facilities – Steel framing systems can be utilised in large and smaller healthcare facilities to expand the space efficiently and cost-effectively.
Hospitality Sector – SFS finds widespread use in hotels, particularly larger establishments, offering flexibility for exterior and interior wall decoration.
Benefits of Steel Framing Systems in Construction
There are several benefits of using steel framing systems in construction and beyond. Here are the top 5 benefits;
1. Design and Flexibility Benefits of SFS
When investing in steel framing systems, you are investing in one of the most diverse and flexible ways to expand your space. With steel framing systems, you can have the components cut to size-specific design requirements, which means your architect has the freedom to get creative.
Because they are lightweight systems, SFS also has the flexibility to be used where traditional extensions may not be suitable—for example, the addition of floors onto multi-storey buildings or internal non-load-bearing walls.
2. Time and Cost Benefits of SFS
Steel framing systems typically cost less than traditional extensions or building solutions. This makes them more accessible to all and allows individuals and businesses the ability to grow and expand their space with fewer limitations.
SFS are also quicker to construct and use. The system is screwed together, and because there are no wet trades involved, it is suitable for use immediately. Compared to traditional building construction processes, SFS takes a fraction of the time.
3. Construction Benefits of SFS
The construction of steel framing systems is very straightforward and requires minimal skilled labour techniques. The steel frame components can even be stamped and labelled to simplify the process further.
This makes construction simple and easy to follow.
4. Safety Benefits of SFS
Along with construction benefits, time, and cost savings, SFS’s construction process is safer than traditional building methods. This is because the components are lightweight, which leads to fewer injuries on site.
5. Sustainability Benefits of SFS
Another great benefit of SFS is the sustainability it offers. The main sustainability elements come from the lowered carbon emissions used in construction when compared to traditional building construction techniques.
The total materials required are lighter and more compact, lowering transportation emissions. These systems are also highly energy efficient, so once the construction is complete, the building will require less energy for heating. Steel is also widely recyclable making it a highly sustainable product to use.

At Tapper Interiors, we specialise in partition walls and suspended ceilings for various building types, one of which is offices. When it comes to interior fit-outs, one of the aspects which we can also help with is acoustic solutions. These are especially important for offices and other areas where noise levels can be an issue.
Office Acoustic Solutions
When fitting office partitions, walls, or ceilings, we ensure our clients receive the right office acoustic solutions for their expectations and requirements.
Glass partitions – for glass partition solutions, we offer double-glazed partitions, which help keep noise levels to a minimum. Glass partitions are popular for open-plan offices; they are an effective way to divide the office without compromising on the natural light entering the space. We also offer glass doors for the complete fit-out solution.
Partition Wall Insulation – when discussing your office partitions, we will talk about the different levels of insulation and what impact this will have on noise levels. Our standard options are 25mm isowool, 50mm isowool or Rockwood batt for extra insulation.
Acoustic Baffles – Acoustic baffles are panels that hang from the ceiling. Their primary purpose is to absorb sound. They lower noise levels and reduce echoing, making the space more appropriate for office work and meetings.
The Importance of Office Acoustic Solutions
Investing in office acoustic solutions can provide several benefits for both employees and the overall work environment. We would always recommend that our clients consider the noise levels of the new layout of their office and invest in some acoustic solutions to help minimise this. Here are some of our main reasons for advising an investment:
- Improve Productivity and Reduce Distractions: Office acoustic solutions help create a quieter, more focused work environment with fewer distractions. This contributes towards improved concentration and increased productivity among employees.
- Ease of Communication: A quieter workplace means easy communication between employees. Acoustic solutions can minimise background noise, making communication easier for employees.
- Private and Confidential Meeting Space: If your office requires a space for private and confidential meetings, then investing in acoustic solutions is a must. This ensures the meeting and any confidential information cannot be overheard from outside the partition walls.

Suspended ceilings offer various advantages and benefits.
Suspended ceilings are often used because they provide a clean finish to any indoor space. There are several advantages to suspended ceilings, so whatever your industry or building type, there are several reasons that you should consider suspended ceilings.
At Tapper Interiors, our fit-out contractors have installed suspended ceilings for many years. We only work with the highest quality materials to ensure our jobs are completed with a professional finish.
Top 10 Suspended Ceiling Advantages
There are several suspended ceiling advantages which may be relevant depending on the type of ceiling used. Here are some of the key reasons that suspended ceilings are selected:
- Acoustic Control – All of the suspended ceilings that we offer include some element of acoustic control. The sound-absorbing properties help to reduce noise levels within a space. This is particularly important in commercial settings, such as busy offices or loud classrooms, where noise control is essential. Different levels of sound absorption are available depending on your requirements, so contact us if you want to discuss your options.
- Aesthetics – Suspended ceilings are often used because they provide a polished and finished look. The tiles can conceal unsightly wires, pipes, and ductwork, creating a clean and professional appearance. Again, this is particularly useful in schools and offices. They are also often used in older buildings with higher ceilings to hide more modern features which have been added later—for example, electric installations and pipework.
- Temperature Insulation – Certain suspended ceiling tiles come with temperature-insulating properties. This means they contribute towards regulating temperature and improving energy efficiency. This can then contribute to a further advantage of reduced heating and cooling costs in the area.
- Versatility and customisation – Suspended ceiling tiles come in various materials, colours, and designs, allowing for a level of customisation which may suit the aesthetic requirements of different spaces. This versatility means that suspended ceilings are suitable for both residential and commercial settings.
- Accessibility for Maintenance – Suspended ceilings have tiles which are designed to be easily removed. This ensures there is quick access to the space above for maintenance or repairs to mechanical, electrical, and plumbing systems without disrupting the entire ceiling. The ceiling tiles can then be replaced when the work is complete. Being able to remove one title at a time is also helpful for repairs. If there is damage to an area of the ceiling, you will only have to replace the individual tile/s rather than the entire ceiling.
- Increased Fire Resistance – Some types of suspended ceiling materials offer fire-resistant properties. This adds an extra layer of safety to the building. Fire resistance can be crucial in commercial or public spaces; some of these building codes may require specific fire safety measures.
- Lighting Integration – another advantage of suspended ceilings is that they allow for easy integration of lighting fixtures. This can include recessed lights, LED panels, and other types of fixtures. The ease of lighting integration facilitates efficient and aesthetically pleasing lighting design.
- Improved Hygiene – Suspended ceiling tiles can be treated with special coatings to make the whole area more hygienic. This is particularly important for commercial food hygiene areas such as kitchens and is sometimes a legal requirement, depending on the nature of the ceiling in question.
- Moisture Resistance – Certain types of suspended ceiling tiles are designed to resist moisture, making them suitable for use in areas prone to high humidity, such as basements, bathrooms or kitchens.
- Cost-Effective – In many cases, suspended ceilings are more cost-effective than other ceiling options. The ease of installation and the ability to conceal infrastructure can save overall cost.
There are many suspended ceiling advantages. When exploring your options, choosing suitable materials and designs is important based on your specific space requirements and the desired functionality. If you need help selecting the best option for your application, contact our team today.
Types of Suspended Ceilings
As discussed above, there are several different types of suspended ceilings available. The types we offer at Tapper Interiors include;
Grid Suspended Ceilings – In this style of suspended ceiling system, panels are set within a visible grid, which can be coloured to either complement or contrast the ceiling panels.
The panels are crafted from diverse materials and come in various sizes. The most commonly used sizes are 1,200x600mm and 600x600mm, and the grid typically measures 24mm or 15mm.
Metal Pan Ceilings – Metal pan ceilings utilise exposed or concealed grids in various sizes. The metal tiles come in assorted dimensions depending on your requirements.
MF Plasterboard Ceilings – MF plasterboard ceilings serve as fundamental ceiling structures. They don’t offer the same acoustic properties as other ceiling options. However, there are optional ad-ons to improve this.
At Tapper Interiors, we have been fitting suspended ceilings for many years. We work across multiple industries in all areas of the UK to bring acoustic solutions to various types of buildings. You can see some of our projects here.

What is a partition wall? A partition wall is part of our service offering at Tapper Interiors. They are internal, non-load-bearing walls which don’t require planning permission.
They are a great way to divide a large space into smaller breakout areas. This could be in an office, at home, in a school/college or in any building.
What is a Partition Wall Constructed From?
Partition walls can be constructed of various materials depending on where they are used. Some of the options we offer at Tapper Interiors are;
Metal Framed Partition Walls
Metal framed partition walls consist of a metal frame with plasterboard and insulation. They are solid partition walls, meaning they provide privacy and are perfect for breakout rooms in offices, dividing classrooms in schools, or creating additional rooms in the home.
Metal framed partition walls have different types of plasterboard options, and each one is suited to a different application or environment. Fire-resistant plasterboards are often selected for partition walls in laboratories, warehouses or other high-risk areas. Moisture-resistant plasterboards are perfect for bathrooms and the like. The sound block board adds an extra sound barrier.
The type and thickness of the insulation in a metal framed partition wall depends on your requirements. Choose from 25mm or 50mm isowool insulation or the Rockwood batt for the highest level of insulation soundproofing.
Glass Partition Walls
Glass partitions are our speciality; we are well known within various industries for providing top-quality glass partition walls. Because they allow plenty of natural light flow and look very professional, they are often selected for office board rooms and car showrooms.
Glass partitions are available as either single or double-glazed, depending on the level of acoustic sound proofing you require.
We can also offer Crittall effect on our glass partitions, which is a metal frame showing throughout – this is often chosen for glass partitions in offices, homes or residential areas – for example, student accommodation. Crittal effect offers all the benefits of glass partitions, such as natural light flow, while contributing to beautiful aesthetics.
Benefits of Using Partition Walls
There are many benefits of using partition walls. Some of the top ones are
- Efficiency of Space – if you have a large space, such as an open-plan office or classroom, you can use partition walls to create smaller rooms. It’s a great way to maximise your space and is more cost-effective than an exterior extension.
- Sound Resistance – partition walls can make a huge difference to the noise levels and privacy for busy offices and classrooms. For confidential meetings, a soundproof breakout or meeting room can offer a high level of privacy.
- Fire Resistance – in high-risk areas, partition walls – when constructed of the correct materials – can offer an extra level of fire resistance. Fire-resistant construction materials slow the spread of the fire, giving personnel a longer time to leave the building and offering an extra layer of protection to any equipment.
- No Need for Planning Permission – because they do not affect the outside of the building, internal partition walls do not require planning permission. So, once your plans are finalised, we can begin work without delay.

Soundproof partition walls are highly sought after and often required for schools, offices and other commercial settings.
At Tapper Interiors, we have been contracted to construct soundproof partition walls in many industries and buildings over the years.
What are Soundproof Partition Walls?
Soundproof partition walls, also known as acoustic partition walls, are a great way to divide a large space into smaller rooms without the need for planning permission. They are designed to minimise sound transmission between different areas or rooms.
Partition walls are commonly used in various settings, such as offices, conference rooms, residential spaces, and other commercial buildings, to create acoustically isolated areas.
Soundproof Partition Wall Features and Options
When it comes to acoustic partition walls, there are different options available depending on your requirements.
Material Options – depending on your requirements, Tapper Interiors can offer various materials and options for soundproof partition walls.
- Stud Walls: Acoustic walls often use materials with high mass, such as dense gypsum board or specialist acoustic panels. Mass helps to block the transmission of sound waves. We can then also add insulation materials, such as acoustic batts, within the wall structure to absorb sound and prevent it from passing through. The insulation is available in various thicknesses depending on the acoustic requirement.
- Glass Walls: as well as stud walls, we also offer glass partition walls. These can be constructed using acoustic glass and double-glazed to help with soundproofing. These are perfect in situations where privacy is required, but the flow of natural light is equally important.
Construction Options – in areas where privacy is of utmost importance. You may want to consider construction options to aid soundproofing. This could include twin-wall construction and resilient bars.
Proper Sealing and Joints – Ensuring adequate sealing for gaps and joints is crucial for preventing sound leaks. At Tapper Interiors, we ensure all the partitions we construct are properly sealed to minimise sound transmission.
Installation – Remember that proper installation is critical for the effectiveness of soundproof partition walls. Hiring professionals who have experience in partition walls is essential.
Reasons to Invest in Acoustic Partition Walls
Organisations may choose to invest in soundproof partition walls for several reasons, depending on their specific needs and the nature of their operations. Here are some compelling reasons why a business might consider making this investment:
Enhanced Productivity – Acoustic partition walls can create a quieter and more focused work environment for everyone in the area. Reduced noise levels can contribute to improved concentration and productivity among employees or students.
Confidentiality and Privacy – In some offices, confidentiality is crucial. Soundproof partition walls can be essential to maintaining privacy by preventing sensitive conversations or information from being overheard.
Meeting and Conference Room Effectiveness – Soundproofing is particularly important in meeting and conference rooms where important discussions and presentations occur. High-quality soundproof walls ensure that discussions inside the room remain confidential and are not disrupted by external noise.
Employee Well-being and Productivity – Excessive noise in the workplace or in educational settings can contribute to stress and fatigue. Investing in soundproofing demonstrates a commitment to the well-being and comfort of employees, potentially leading to higher job satisfaction and lower turnover rates.
A quieter workspace can also lead to increased productivity for employees or students in education settings as many distractions are eliminated.
Customer or Visitor Experience – For businesses that deal with customers or visitors on-site, a quiet and comfortable environment can enhance the overall customer experience. It creates a positive impression and may contribute to better communication.
Other Acoustic Elements
When it comes to interior fit-outs, another acoustic aspect to consider is your ceilings. We can provide ceiling baffles for added soundproofing to help with further sound absorption.
This is particularly effective in buildings constructed over multiple storeys. Find out more about our ceiling baffles here.

What is Drylining, and why use it? At Tapper Interiors, drylining is one of the many services we offer. We use drylining in conjunction with our partition wall installation. If you are considering partition walls for your office, warehouse, or home, then contact our friendly team to discuss your options.
What is Drylining?
Drylining is a process to line internal walls. It involves fixing ready-made plasterboard sheets to an internal wall or partition. Because the plasterboard sheets are ready-made, the process is much quicker and cleaner than using wet plaster.
Drylining provides a smooth finish to a wall, making it suitable for painting or wallpapering, depending on your preference. It is mainly used on both walls and ceilings.
Drylining can provide both heat and sound insulation, making it the perfect choice for many types of buildings.
Where is Drylining Used?
Drylining is used in various types of buildings and industries. Depending on the industry, different types of plasterboard may be required.
If your wall is in an area where water is present, then a moisture-resistant plasterboard is required. These will withstand the damp conditions without showing signs of damage.
For areas where there is a high risk of fire, then fire-resistant plasterboard may be required. These burn slower than standard plasterboards, which slows down the spread of a fire should one start.
There are also different thicknesses of plasterboard available if soundproofing or insulation is a priority. The standard thicknesses are 12.5mm or 15mm.
Drylining is used anywhere that there is an internal partition wall. At Tapper Interiors, we construct partition walls in many different building types, including but not limited to:
- Commercial buildings
- Factories
- Warehouses
- Industrial buildings
- Schools
- Universities
- Museums
- Hospitals
- Residential buildings
- Offices
Drylining vs Wet Plaster
Drylining has many benefits over wet plaster; the main ones are;
Quicker – There is a lot less water involved in drylining – hence the name – which makes drylining not only quicker to apply than wet plaster but also gives it a quicker drying time. This means the wall is ready to decorate quickly.
Flexible – with various plasterboard and insulation options available, drylining is a flexible solution for your interior design project.
Although drylining is the best choice for internal partition walls, there are some downsides which you may want to consider.
Because they are lightweight, they are not suitable to replace any load-bearing walls, so the internal structure of your building will still need to be considered for any further alterations to your space.
They also have less load-bearing capacity for handling items like shelves or cupboards. This is something you should consider depending on where your partition wall will be and what it will be used for. Timber pattresses can be added at the construction stage.
If you have any questions about using drylining for your partition walls, contact us – we would be happy to help.

Industrial interior fit-outs refer to the process of designing and altering the interior spaces of industrial or commercial buildings without making structural changes.
An industrial interior fit-out involves transforming and re-building an existing space or a raw or unfinished space into a functional, aesthetically pleasing environment that meets the specific needs and requirements of the business or organisation.
There are many elements when it comes to industrial fit-outs; the main areas we focus on are partition walls and suspended ceilings. However, we can undertake the complete turn-key package if required. Within industrial internal fit-outs, there are often industry standards that need to be met.
Partition Walls in Industrial Interior Fit-Outs
Partition walls play a crucial role in industrial interior fit-outs. They are used for creating defined spaces and serve several purposes:
Space Division – Partition walls are used to divide large areas into smaller, functional spaces. This helps create separate work zones, offices, meeting rooms, and other regions. This is particularly useful in industrial settings such as warehouses where office space is often required.
Privacy – They provide privacy for employees working in individual offices or meeting rooms.
Acoustic Control – Industrial settings such as warehouses or factories can be very noisy environments. Partition walls can be designed to have sound-reducing properties, reducing noise levels within the workspace.
Flexibility –Demountable partition walls offer a level of flexibility, allowing businesses to reconfigure their space as needed without significant structural changes.
Suspended Ceilings in Industrial Interior Fit-Outs
Suspended ceilings are widely used in industrial fit-outs for several reasons:
Aesthetic Enhancement – Suspended ceilings can conceal unsightly structural elements, wiring, and HVAC systems, providing a clean and finished look to the space.
Acoustic Improvement – They can improve acoustics by absorbing sound and reducing echoes within a large, open space; this is particularly important in loud industrial settings.
Industrial Interior Fit-Outs from Tapper Interiors
If you are planning an industrial interior fit-out, it’s important to consider factors like the specific needs of the business, budget constraints, aesthetic preferences, and compliance with building codes and regulations.
